OUR DOGS COME OUT HAPPY EVERYTIME

ALL STAFF ARE INFORMED WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH OUR DOGS.EVERYTHING REMAINS THE SAME STANDARD EVERYTIME. WE HAVE BEEN USING SAMFORD FOR OVER 10 YRS NOW.VERY HAPPY WITH THE RECEPTION, EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN BE EXTREMELY BUSY, I STILL WANT TO FEEL IMPORTANT WITH OUR DOGS AND THEIR WELFARE OF LEAVING THEM IN SAMFORD. NO ONE ELSE IN THE KENNEL BUSINESS SHOW THE CARE THAT YOU GIVE, OUR DOGS COME OUT HAPPY EVERY TIME.

Can't recommend it

I paid for LUXURY SUITE for my four doggies, upon entering the room when we dropped them off I could see the photos on the web looked sensational when in fact the room is very small and very very smelly and unclean. When we collected my dogs they were putrid, had not been bathed, AND ALL of them had severe diarrhoea and required antibiotics immediately. It was very distressing. I should have known by the smell that it was more than a "dog" smell - rather it was unhygienic. Upon talking with other locals about their experiences we agree that this pet accommodation is not the business it was years ago. Samford Pet "Resort" is a well marketed product with a great web page and advertising campaign that once upon a time WAS a reassuring caring place to leave your beloved four legged family while you went away. The staff were extremely caring, attentive and friendly. ATTITUDES STEM FROM THE TOP. I know, "the owner" will probably reply in a verbose email justifying their policy but the reality is Sir, the attitude is ignorant and arrogant and fact is my dogs were unhappy and sick. Tons of great Pet Sitters out there now people....

Samford Pet Resort have exceeded all my expectations

Samford Pet Resort have exceeded all my expectations I’m so happy I found this place. Im so grateful thank-you to everyone at Samford Pet Resort for the amazing service of providing a ""pick up service" that allowed us to drop bill at a nearby vet from where he was transported to the resort, where he stayed. Although this was the first time we had arranged accommodation for our dog we had absolutely no qualms about leaving him there and this was verified when we returned and collected him. Bill looked amazing and appeared very settled.so again Thank-you to everyone. If the occasion arises again would not hesitate to leave Bill with you again. every opportunity that we had to speak to staff they were both very helpful and friendly.

Bad experience for our little dog

We too have had a very negative experience of the samford pet resort. We have been to this kennel on many occasions but the last time we picked our dog up she had an abscess on her neck the size of a golf ball that no-one had picked up & she had not been bathed. The business owner was extremely rude and righteous & was not interested in the fact that none of his staff had picked this up. Which makes you question the level of care and attention. When we raised our unhappiness he hid behind his insurance company and denied everything including the fact that she had not had a bath. I would never take my dog there again.

Intelligent, efficient, friendly staff member took my booking. Received comprehensive email confirmation of booking. Very professional and problem free. From what I could see (exterior grounds and garden and office) all was clean. Good price for location and convenience, however boarding an animal is an expense one has to budget for but worth it for good care. Every time we have liaised with staff they are always super friendly and efficient, even when rushed off their feet booking in numerous animals. We collected our dog, in the middle of the low from Cyclone Marcia and the rain was torrential. The girls at reception were drenched but still putting on a happy face. The lady who collected our dog CARRIED him UNDER HER OWN RAINCOAT to our car to keep him dry. The staff member was soaking wet but went the extra mile to ensure our dog got to our car in an exceptionally dry condition. Talk about customer service extraordinaire.

I have recommended Samford Pet Resort to all of my family and friends. They are extremely professional and I am 100% confident leaving my Pets in their care. I have been using the Samford Pet Resort for over 20 years and my pets have always been well looked after as they are excited and happy upon their return home. I can't thank the staff enough for giving me such peace of mind while I am away

Money oriented

We have used this kennel quite a few times in the past - the date indicated for stay is not correct, we haven't been back there since 2013 I think it was. Originally we were happy with it but it seemed once the management was taken over by a new guy, everything just seemed to cost a lot more. I understand businesses need to make money but it just seemed all the prices increased a lot, particularly over holiday periods and everything just seemed to be money-oriented. For instance, play-time for two dogs should cost the same as for one since you are using one person to play with the two dogs...but here they charge you double and even then they state that they can't guarantee the play time will occur even though you have paid for it since they could be too busy. Furthermore, you can't inspect the kennels, supposedly due to insurance reasons and not upsetting the dogs. Interesting how other kennels don't have a problem with this. I have since changed kennels where playtime is free and you can see the kennels and all the other dogs.

Hi, my name is Blake De Bruin owner and director of the Samford Pet Resort and I wish to address the reviews below. The management/ownership has not been taken over at all as I am the son of Karen and Garth De Bruin the founders and still current directors of the resort. Not only have I grown up in the business but have been the managing director for the last 12 years full time. Our prices have only been put up once in the last 4 years as we have seen how tough things are for many families so we feel that we have been more than reasonable yet quite under-priced compared to other states. We have also withheld so far from a price increase this year again to help out families. It’s also worth noting that we are one of a hand full of kennels that hire full time staff. Our staff are at the resort all day caring for your pets. It is unreasonable to think that any kennel offering you all inclusive rates that are less than $40 per day that your pets is really getting what they say. Unless of course the staff are working for free. Yes we do charge for playtimes and yes it is per pet but this is worked out on dog to staff ratios for the safety of the pets who are supervised the full time while in play sessions. It is simply untrue that playtimes are only done if we have time. It’s also untrue that we don’t allow inspections. For the last 40 years we have always allowed inspections. Our inspection times are 10am to 12 noon Monday to Saturday excluding school holidays. We have viewing platforms that allow you to see directly into the kennels but yes like any work place you can’t go into the kennel block. The point is a good one made about upsetting the dogs as yes how would you like to know that your pets is being upset by 10s of unfamiliar people walking past looking at and disturbing your dog every day. It’s unsettling not to mention unhygienic to allow public into the kennel blocks. This is why we have fantastic viewing areas to allow you to see in, yet put less impact on the care of the guests. I will also state that under the national code of practice of boarding kennels Australia I quote ‘’ access to the boarding establishment (other than the reception area and office) by persons or vehicles must be restricted to staff only’’ I hope I have been able to provide some insight and welcome you to contact me direct if you have any concerns or questions. Very Disappointed

Went to book our 14 month old staffy in here. Upon hearing his breed the staff became rude and told us that his breed is aggressive, that staffies attack without warning and because staffies are dangerous he would be kept isolated from other dogs. We did not book our beautiful fur-baby in with these people as a result. Totally disappointed by the breed ignorance and rudness displayed by the staff. I would not reccomend this place to anyone.

I would like to address the review relating to staffys. Like many kennels our accommodations is based on shared accommodation. with over 40 years in the business and both Karen and myself, holding national director positions with in Australian associations for pet boarding we know only to much that pets safety is paramount while in our care. With this being said we do have selected breeds that we simply do not mix with other dogs. This is not new and is not something that’s specific to us in fact most reputable kennels that I know of have this same policy. We are not saying we will not take staffys and we are not saying that they are a bad breed but what we are saying is that experience and knowledge of the breeds indicates that the likely hood of specific breeds not mixing well with others is at a much higher rate. So for the safety of other pets certain breeds have to board solo. We understand that out of the breeds we make board solo, you may have a dog that get along with everyone. We respect this but in a different environment, with new people and living in a space with another dog that they have never met the chances of this changing is likely. There was only a case in 2013 that made news headlines where a kennel had mixed a breed we class as solo with another and the outcome was devastating. We are proud to say that this has not and will not ever happen at our resort simply due to our procedures and policy’s. I would like to mention that at this time I write this we have over 10 staffys boarding with us and on their own they are beautiful dogs. We love each one, but for their safety and others we have taken all reasonable actions. They still enjoy staff interaction and playtimes as booked only it is one on one. I hope I have been able to provide some insight and welcome you to contact me direct if you have any concerns or questions. Disappointed

We put our 6 month puppy in for a 3 night stay. We were told at time of booking that she would be put with another puppy for company and would play with the other dogs. But when we got there they said that her breed was too dangerous and she would be isolated. We informed the centre of her breed (staffy) prior to booking and they never mentioned isolation! We also requested a viewing of the centre and were rudely informed NO, even though we asked during the allocated reviewing times. So very disappointed and we will not be using their services again.
