Great accommodation for my dogs. Secure, well looked after, and great location… would recommend and return again!

We have been so impressed with Bowen Pet Motel and the care shown to all of the animals in their care. The facility is very secure and each pet is known and loved whilst in Peter and Joanne’s care. They were easily contactable in business hours and always friendly, professional and helpful. This has been the best kennel experience and we highly recommend them to all we speak to! I have no hesitation in trusting them with my babies again!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LOST MY DOG? During a short caravanning holiday in Bowen, my husband and I had our 3 dogs boarded at Bowen Pet Motel for a 1 night stay on the 8th November, whilst we celebrated a special occasion at Airlie Beach. That day turned into my worst nightmare when we received the phone call at 4.30pm from Peter's wife Joanne that he had lost one of my dogs. In complete bewilderment/ shock and anger we rushed back to Bowen to start our search for our 1 yr old puppy Holly. She was lost and alone in a strange environment ie: farmland/Creeks, swamps and major highways. The area she was lost in has wild pigs/dingo's/snakes/kangaroos. As you can imagine our anxiety levels were through the roof as were hers. On pressing Peter for information as to how this situation occurred he told us that instead of locking our 3 dogs in their Kennels before he brought their food in, he had them playing in the outdoor run and as he walks in the 1 gate between them and the outside world with their food, Holly slips out between his legs. Next thing she's gone and disappears into the farmland surrounding the property that isn't fenced. " The Law states that when dogs are boarded in Kennels that there must be 2 gates between dog and escape". Peter failed to take proper care of our dogs by not following procedures!. After an exhausting 17 hours of searching through the night we heard heavy vehicle horns honking on the major highway around 9am the next morning. We all rushed there including Peter, Joanne and one of their staff to find Holly in a distressed and confused state running frantically through a large tussocked area metres from the highway. We run through creeks/ tussock farmland untill we finally managed to secure her after she collapsed with exhaustion. It was with great relief that we got our furbabie back, but this outcome could have been so much worse due to the negligence of Bowen Pet Motel. Duty of care, Not there! WOULD I EVER USE THE BOWEN PET MOTEL AGAIN....NO WAY!!! WOULD I ADVISE ANYONE ELSE TO USE THEM....ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! This was a 50th Birthday I will never forget.
