Dog Boarding, Cat Boarding and Doggy Day Care - Toolern Vale Victoria

I’ve been a customer of Dog Dayz in Toolern Vale for around 4 years and while the first few visits were great we noticed quite a few staffing changes in the last couple of years which I feel has caused issues with the quality of the care my dogs have received. One of my two dogs takes daily medication that can cause serious issues and even death if stopped. Because of this whenever we check the dogs in I provide clear and detailed instructions on her medication schedule, I separate her daily doses so it’s easy for them to follow and verbally confirm that they understand the schedule before leaving them. Recently we took our dogs in for a three night stay and called after the first night to see if there had been issues and that my dog had taken her medication. We were advised that there were no issues. After getting the dogs back home and unpacking the bag I send with them I found the medication I had sent had not been given as scheduled and instead had been returned having only given her one out of three doses. I called to question who’s and was told that the diary they keep indicated that my dog had been provided medication each day during the stay. I said this was not possible as I only packed what was needed for the duration of the stay. I was told the manager would call me back which he did the following day. I asked for an explanation and was not given one. While he was apologetic it was very disappointing to hear that his solution was to have a staff meeting and reiterate the medicating instructions to staff. My dog is now unwell and having just cared for her through cancer removal surgery I am deeply upset that we could still lose her because someone failed to follow the instructions provided. I will not take my dogs to Dog Dayz again and would recommend them to anyone. It’s very disappointing to experience this as we had initially found them to be quite good but clearly the staffing changes are having an impact on the safety and care provided to animals while they are there.
